Driver’s Test

My daughter took her driver’s test today. In my day, there was one license and two tests – one written and one actual driving. But under the new rules, there is a written test to get your G1, then a driving test to get your G2, and within 5 years, a highway driving test to get your final G license.

This test was for her G2 and although she is a very good driver, my daughter was more than nervous. When we practiced before the test, she seemed to forget everything and I wasn’t sure if she would pass.

Cambridge does not have a driver testing facility, so we traveled about 45 minutes to a town called Woodstock. I was glad we arrived early to practice because there were a number of one way streets, a busy main street, and people walking in front of the cars whenever they felt like it.

Thankfully, the tester was a calm and understanding man who realized just how nervous my daughter was. Even though she had trouble with her parking, he decided to pass her. Now all we need is a little car of her own to drive.
