One of the most popular sports in Canada is hockey. Some of you newcomers may not have had the chance to enjoy this sport due to your cultural backgrounds. Hockey is a fun sport that both children and parents can enjoy alike. Whether you play outside on a home made ice rink, or in an arena setting, this sport can provide hours of fun for all you try.

One of the many benefits of living in a big city such as Toronto is the ability to find a class who can teach you skating basics up to the best strategies to use when playing hockey. One such popular place is known as the True North Hockey.com. Run by a man named Steve Edgar, many new immigrants find the joy in learning this new sport in a country that holds so many exciting new experiences to explore.

Women are learning that this sport is not just for men. With the Canadian National Women’s team being known to be the best in the world, many women are taking the chance at trying their hand in this exciting game of skill. You will always get to play in a team with other members who have the same level of skill as you do so you won’t have to worry about getting hurt.

You can start out in the beginners class. You receive 10 classes to learn the game and hone your skating skills, there are also 10 regular season games that include play offs, and a professional uniform. Classes start in November of every year, and the program is
available for people living in Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton.

So if you are living in the area and would like to learn a true Canadian winter sport, you should give hockey a go. It may be too late this season to join, but you can still get started with learning the basics of ice skating so you are more confident and ready to jump right in to the class next fall.
