Ontario has many private schools that offer training in a number of occupations, from business to dental to social work and everything in between. Fees are often much higher than those for the local colleges, but admission may be a little easier.
If you decide to attend one of these private schools, a word of caution – make sure that the course you want is accredited. A friend of mine spent many hours and a lot of money taking a social worker course, only to find that it wasn’t recognized. He was still hired, but at a much smaller wage.
There were also a number of students who graduated from a dental college and were unable to find work in their field because the school was not recognized.
