Last night, we went to visit some friends from mainland China. They have been in Canada for a few years and although the husband held a prestigious government job in China, he has been unable to find suitable work here. After labouring in a factory and delivering pizza, our friend has decided to go back to school.
Opportunities for proper employment in Toronto are not easy. Another couple stopped by to say goodbye to our friends since they were leaving Canada and returning to China. Our friend explained that the other couple were wise and didn’t quit their jobs, just in case things didn’t work out.
So don’t be too quick to leave everything behind and settle in a new country. We have a saying “the grass looks greener on the other side”, but often it isn’t.
