The name Chalk Lake was given due to its very high calcium content . The water level was much lower in the past exposing its “chalk white” shoreline .

That’s a great question, Paul. I’ll have to do some research and see if I can find out how it came about to be called Chalk Lake.

Hi, Two other boys and I passed by Chalk Lake on Our Boy Scout First Class Journey in May, 1953. I was recently retracing that Journey and was wondering how and why it got the name Chalk Lake?
