The name Chalk Lake was given due to its very high calcium content . The water level was much lower in the past exposing its "chalk white" shoreline .

That's a great question, Paul. I'll have to do some research and see if I can find out how it came about to be called Chalk Lake.

Hi, Two other boys and I passed by Chalk Lake on Our Boy Scout First Class Journey in May, 1953. I was recently retracing that Journey and was wondering how and why it got the name Chalk Lake?

Welcome to Cambridge, Brian. We've been here five years now and really like it. Since I was Toronto born and raised, I thought I might miss the city, but not at all. We still regularly find new places to visit. If you like to walk or bike, there is a trail that runs along the Speed River from Hespeler all the way to Preston, as well as other trails in Galt. My business site is carolbremner.com. I'll have to check yours out as well.
